Bespoke Post Review

If you’re into bush-craft or waxed canvas odds are you’ve heard of bespoke post. Bespoke post is a subscription box that admittedly seems to be marketed towards men. All the reviews I could find online were linked to men’s magazines. So it’s safe to say that I’m not exactly the target demographic. I had been interested in their company for awhile, but I couldn’t justify to myself getting a subscription box. Then my husband informed me he had signed up for it lol. For the most part we get boxes that we can use together. The exceptions being the canvas overnight bag for him and the hori hori knife box for me. My favorite so far has been our Mexican hot chocolate set though. And the Panang Curry wasn’t any slouch either.

Going backwards I’ll start with the curry. The box was called Hawker, and it came with a Thai Moon Knife and your choice of one of three curries. This box was lighter than some others but the price of said knife alone is 1.5x the price of the box. And honestly, I’m a moon knife guy now. Once I got past the idea of having to slice from my wrist and moved the action to my shoulder, this knife was amazing. I’ve been having wrist troubles for years due to genetics and the nature of spending half your life in kitchens. We’ve had some version of both read and green curry before so we chose Panang to mix it up. It was delicious. the steps were easy to follow, it tasted great with pork, and it was fun to make! I added some stir fry veggies because balance is key… and I’m a sucker for baby corns.

Around Valentine’s day we got the Heritage (?) box, it was a Mexican hot chocolate set complete with handmade terra cotta mugs and a molinillo whisk. This one is a learning curve for me as I’m the worst Mexican I know, and am not good at using said whisk. BUT THE CHOCOLATE! Oh my god, it’s amazing. I add heavy cream personally just to be extra. This one came with three different disks of chocolate. We started out with the basic milk since Bill had never had hot chocolate like this before. The one I’m most excited for is the chili spiced dark chocolate, but I’m saving it for a special day.

The second box was also part of my holiday present. The Terra box, came with a sweet hori hori tool from Barebones that I had been drooling over for MONTHS. There was also a bar of charcoal soap, an old school bird call, and a book on bushcraft. I do lament that because this box came in the middle of winter and we just hit spring time in the mountains I haven’t had much chance to put it to the test yet. But I do occasionally swing the tool around like Lego LOTR Sam Gamgee with his sweet sweet trowel weapon.

The first box we got was the canvas over night bag, I don’t remember what it’s cute name was though. This one was for Bill since he hadn’t had true luggage in a few years, since a beat up over sized lap top case meant for business travelers to use as carry on. Coincidentally this same bag was what he put all of his belongings in when he moved in with me! He did get a chance to put it to use last month for a work trip. And even though there have been complaints of it being small online, he managed to pack four days worth of clothing and essentials in it. Which is impression for a man who’s pants have a 38 inch inseam.

This post isn’t sponsored I just genuinely like my boxes so far lol. We do opt out of quite a few months, our house is small and we don’t like having too many things just sitting around. But for the price this is has been a great chance to add some stuff we already wanted, and replace things that are pretty worn out with stuff more in our style. You’ll pry that moon knife from my cold dead hands I’ll tell you what.
